Thank you for taking a stand against money in politics! I have a few follow up questions: Should Mendendez also be expelled? How much money have Democrats taken from George Soros and his dark money pools? As a woman, can you define what a woman is and state whether biological men should be competing in women's sports?

As a man, can you define what a man is and state whether biological women should be competing in men's sports? And whether any politician should decide about biological differences - particularly men who want to have reign over women's bodies? George Soros is part of the dark money that Ms Porter wants to see removed (as I do)... but he is not the "bogey man" he's made out to be. That onus falls to the Kochs, Mercers, DeVos' etc. It's the GQP's fascism that's killing this country's democracy and your comments cement that.

A man is an adult human male with XY chromosomes and a penis, a woman is an adult human female with XX chromosomes and a vagina. How does my asking questions lead to fascism and killing democracy? You are misusing those terms and smearing everyone you disagree with as GQP is juvenile.

Do you support males destroying females in sports like these examples? https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/how-to-save-womens-sports-riley-gaines

In what the late Saddam Hussein once dubbed “the great Satan,” roughly two-thirds of the United States enlisted military corps is white . . . The fat, bulbous, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin once confirmed in a 93-2 vote of the U.S. Senate, immediately embarked on a whirlwind media tour of duty, telling the pseudo-secular sycophants in the state-controlled tabloid press and state-controlled television talk show circuit about how the U.S. Army is full of bad racist white men.

And now the U.S. Army is doing ads begging for more young white males?

What happened?

Even with a full-on declaration of war from Congress, and even if Gavin Newsome could be cheated into the Oval Office by ZOG somehow, while Globohomo diversity brigades go door-to-door looking to impress American children into military service, they will be met with armed, well-trained opposition, the invasion at the Southern border is going full tilt, and the drugs are flowing in like never before . . .

With the borders of Europe and the USA wide open, civil warfare within the USA, Britain, and most of Europe is a certainty if foreign wars are initiated. Nobody is going to fight a war for Biden, he is dumber than Bush . . . Nobody is going to fight a war for that kikesucking Zionist ass-whore Nikki Haley, and I mean nobody.

Get ready for it . . . the fat old devil worshipping fags on Capitol Hill, on Wall Street, in Whitehall, and in Brussels are in no shape to fight a war themselves, and most Americans are armed to the teeth with their own guns . . . NATO hates heterosexual white men . . . they said so themselves . . .

Thanks very much for you principled stance on the damaging effects money in politics. In our current political environment, the biggest majority will NOT voluntarily give up their reliance on monied supporters of all stripes because IMO most have the game theoretic mindset that they’d be at a decided disadvantage and therefore would LOSE their office if they did so. We have become a nation of folks determined to win at all costs, principles be damned. As you know it’ll be a long slog trying to unseat this mindset but IMO practicing democratic principles depends on it.

Most of the huge corporate political expenditures go to democrats and are funneled through the dark money pools like Arabella Advisors. Democrats would be devastated by campaign finance reform. No more George Soros, Zuckerbucks, Bezos’, and of course everyone’s favorite creep, Bill Gates.

Thank you for your hard work and sacrifice shining a light on the corruption in US politics. We read your autobiography "I Swear: Politics Is Messier Than My Minnie Van" in our "Strong Women" book club here in Arizona. It was from the heart and struck a nerve since I've been divorced since 2018, after I was on the receiving end of verbal and physical abuse. I'm pouring my energy into canvassing to keep at least one AZ State House of Representatives Democrat elected from my AZ Legislative District 13. I wish I could run for office but I'm a Flight Attendant working full-time to pay for my daughter's college tuition.

Hi Katie.

I have been thinking about something lately that I would like to share with you.

This representative democracy of ours doesn’t work.

I think that the electorate puts indecent men and women into office because they don’t know the character of the people they vote for.

The reasons why they don’t know the character of their representatives is varied.

But the majority of voters don’t really put much effort into finding out.

Which leads me to the conclusion that we, the voters get what we deserve. Our lack of effort opens a wide door to corruption, indifference and slimy government policies.

It’s a wonderful idea---people electing the very individuals who make the laws. But it will never work. There will never be a sufficient number of voters who will make the effort to find good leaders. Leaders who would make the system work as was intended.

P S ... may i suggest that the problem is not the 'quality' of the candidates nor the Constitution that gives us this form of gov't? may i also suggest that it's not the 'voters' who are responsible for the mess that is clearly not serving US (the people!) in DC?

don't we all 'make the effort' to find 'good leaders' to elect? have you noticed that the DNC itself... and now also the state of Florida are overtly keeping US (voters) from having any say about who will be 'chosen' Dem candidate for prez in 2024?? do any of US have ANY say about it??

how do most voters feel about the current options? about the rematch of 2020?? how many choices do they want us to actually get??

yes, Katie Porter is an incredible exception who keeps her integrity intact, despite the deeply corrupt system. we are all so grateful for her. (can she please run for prez or at least VEEP???)

our system has been corrupted from the inside out. blaming the voters or the efforts of many decent candidates and members of our gov't instead of looking at the bigger picture that our current system is BROKEN will not help us to fix it.

it's not about individuals, altho having some wonderful people like Katie who aim to truly fix the broken system rather than just tinker around ... as if that would make any difference ... is fabulous!

we all do need to shift our focus to change what's truly wrong. it's big and deep. we need to start with looking UP and being willing to revamp it all. seems like it's already happening on some levels. current 'powers that be' will NOT easily give up their thrones...

If corruption came from the inside out, who put them there but the voters.

We put them there and they carried their corruption with them right into Congress.

Suz-an's avatar

who decides for whom we can 'vote'??

as someone else has observed: if our votes actually counted ... voting would be illegal. <-- not sure i totally buy that. still, it's a point worth considering.

are you that corrupt? are most of your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors...?

if you wanna believe this corruption is yours... then just clean up your act already? fix it for all of us, please.

to me, it doesn't much seem to matter who goes into the 'machine.' nearly all are corrupted by it. something is definitely rotten in there ... and it's not all the people who step up to serve and go in with good intentions.

My point is if the majority of people took the time to look into the character of those they vote for, our country would be as envisioned when it was created.

People don’t do that. Often they push a button for a party not the individual. Our country is as it is because of that.

I believe we all would be better served, if the people we elected were good, decent, caring people, don’t you?

There’s no better alternative. The best we can do is to tweak our system so that good outcomes are more likely.

Yes, ever since Obama stopped allowing civics in school, citizenship has ceased caring. That is why Trump is so popular. For God’s sake, we have an illegitimate President who, over the past 3 years, who’s given America up to China, Ukraine, and Iran. He openly bragged about interfering in Brazil’s elections . The truth is, democrats have been stealing elections since 2012.

LOL!!! he didn't! ... that was part of a plan from way back, hatched by people who were beyond PO'd after Brown v. Board of Education decision. (SCOTUS 1954ish) they made long term plans to sabotage public education. (Dark Money by Jane Mayer). lots more pieces to this strategy ... however, we're just talking about education here.

Lo and behold... it took them decades to produce what they wanted... a divided and ignorant populace who wouldn't understand how the whole American political system was supposed to work... so naturally they can't protect it. yadda, yadda....

Obama wasn't even born when this plan was begun...

Thank you Katie!

Our local Democratic Club hosted our State Assemblyman, State Senator, and County Supervisor the other night.

After their presentations, it was our turn.

I told them that I have been a Democrat since before World War Two. We were born into the Party, with Franklin and Eleanor as our presidents, and Frances Perkins guiding us to the blessings of the New Deal.

I told them our party has changed in California, and the elephant in the room is corruption. No one talks about it, but it is the gravest problem we face today.

In our case, even our state agencies, like the California Public Utilities Commission and our Water Board, act in the best interests of those they are supposed to regulate, rather than look out for the People of California.

I share this in agreement with you. We’re really screwed by our own government here.

I suppose they were Federalist Society justices that voted for this to happen.
