While we didn’t get the result we hoped for in this month’s California Senate primary race, I’m still in Congress serving out my term as the Congresswoman for California’s 47th district.
We will miss you in the House, but I’m so happy to know you will continue fighting for the American people about important issues. Hoping to see you somewhere in President Biden’s cabinet, soon. We need you in government. Thanks for all you have done!
I was not happy with the tactics Adam Schift used to keep you out of the general election, I hope that you view this as a temporary setback and that you will run again, we need you in government, my family fully supports you !
I could NOT understand why she was running & Schiff too. I only supported Katie & WOW, I was so angry she did not win. Pretty certain Schiff receives outside money, but damn we really need Katie back in someway!!! She is so crafty with these rich people overrunning the middle class!!!
I knew once Schiff was in the race she didn’t stand a chance. I wish Katie had realized it before she self unelected herself. It sucks because we needed her voice in the House.
I felt the same. Katie would have been a productive member of the Senate and was the first to declare her candidacy. Suggestions that Katie might be part of a democratic cabinet is promising. Not sure if Katie would prefer a managerial position instead of a chance to make real change in policies.
I &many more will miss your honesty, intelligence& tenacity ,I couldn't vote as I'm in Pa.but I sent support to your campaign because you were there to the benefit of all Americans.Ill be following your new venture Katie.💌
Are there term limits for California representatives? It will be a shame not to have you in the House. Do you have the option to run for your seat again?
Katie, when I try to talk about politics with my neighbors who aren't registered voters, they tell me that they don't involve themselves in politics because it all seems the same. I think that politics is about governing, serving the people, and creating policies that help the citizens of this country. Thank you so much for looking at governance like a service job. Your thoughtful expertise is very much appreciated.
Some of my neighbors say weird stuff like that, too. Sometimes they say, “I”m glad that you are involved, so that I don’t have to be.” It’s discouraging. But, onward we go.
Please keep working. You are so badly needed. I hope you will find a position in the next administration. Or outside the government in agencies that impact the lives of all of us.
I make a monthly donation to you through ActBlue. I will leave it in place for now while you are still in Congress as I'm sure you have expenses that need to be paid. (If you have not met Congressman Joe Jackson D/NC, may I suggest that you introduce yourself to him. He got gerrymandered out of his NC district but ran in the primary for AG-and won! I mention him because he's been writing on Substack.com for several months and explaining to folks, who aren't necessarily his constituents, like myself, about what is actually going on in the House. (I'm a Vermonter but I donate to several candidates.)
thank you, Marcia! was just trying to find his substack... and discovered his name is Jeff. he won the Dem PRIMARY for AG... is what i found. still can't find him on substack.
It will be GREAT to have you still on Substack, Katie. Yours is one of the most important voices in our nation. Rock on, brilliant KP. We are with you.
I think if we had 434 clones of you in Congress our imperfect union would be improved for all our benefit. With respect to Tktk and SM in general 1 they all use the public good of the internet (DARPA investment offshoot - and FCC controlled communication platforms) 2 the fact they are using the public good to earn profits in multiple ways the most concerning is the gathering of data on all of us to create ‘data lakes’ with streams and rivers connecting them, that basically can store our every move - and that data is for sale is why we need smart people like you running the show so that we can have timely action to meet the fast paced moves of industry to basically amass our digital lives in exchange for free and paid access to the public goods we Americans have paid for with our taxes and the funds we pay to the stewards of the communication systems we have in the United States. We must have a more strategic view of what is happening to us in the name of progress - and with how that progress meshes with our values and the protections (from abuse of government and governing entities) that our Constitution erects to protect the peoples sovereignty. One of those values is our ability to make decisions on our own without geo-political manipulation. To that end there is much Congress needs to do to catch up - financial traceability (blockchain technology) for tracing who is sponsoring what content, upgrading libel to confront the anonymity of threats, developing some means to determine Truth - and the identification of misinformation, analysis of the impact on children and the traditional structures we put our kids through like school of technology - penmanship, ability to hold a conversation with another, the ability to put the phone or computer down - strategically what is this doing to us and what are are we allowing others to do us via technology. There is so much to do but looks like we will never get to our business. On 2-week recess again!!!
Ms. Porter, I first noticed you when you spoke to the CEO's of Banks. You where amazing. You still are amazing. As a country we need you. Thank you for all you did, and for all that you will do.
Was really pulling for you being Senator Porter and hate it that your voice and tenacity will no longer be in the house. Please join Biden's administration in his next term or run for some other position.

Katie, we love you. Felt badly that 3 great candidates vied for the same Senate position. Keep up the great work. You are a gift to all of us.
Definitely sticking around and thanks for representing our district so well✌️
Good to hear from you! I hope to hear more. in the days and months ahead. I especially appreciate your policy analysis.

Katie for POTUS!

understatement of the year ... schifty Schiff did not win fair and square... and we all know it
I'm so grateful that you will still 'be around!' You are absolutely amazing! Thank you for all that you do for us. xxx's

There are no term limits on federal office other than the President of the United States.
Phuk!!!
Is there any wonder we can’t have anything nice?

It's Jeff Jackson, NOT Joe that I mentioned above. This is what happens when one turns 80. The brain forgets everything!

I’ll stick around, Katie. Looking forward to Act II … or V, whichever one you’re on now. Have long appreciated your clear and principled arguments.
Thank you for writing, I will miss you in the House.
