Corporate tyranny... they control our politicians and the legislative agenda, they control how much we make, how much things cost, how much time and resources we have for our families. What’s worse is that if it weren’t for taxpayer largess, a lot of companies wouldn’t be going concerns. And they have the nerve to imply that workers are lazy and entitled. The most entitled are the CEOs. They get nothing but upside and the workers get all the downside.

There are two sides to every story and lots of workers are lazy and feel entitled. The government also has a big hand in what things cost with all these regulations. Again there are two sides to every story.

I

I wrote this poem after watching you grill the a bank CEO.

POVERTY IN SPADES

(May 2025. Poem by Maria. Dedicated to Katie Porter, who bothers. Inspired by my watching you grill a bank CEO)

There is poverty and poverty

the poorest guy is not the beggar

nor the dirt-poor woman teller

who barely survive from day to day

and have nothing extra to give

though their hearts are still intact.

The poorest guy is the billionaire

in his tailored 5000-dollar suit

who has everything to give

but knows neither how nor why

who can’t be bothered

by the plight of low-life people

of zero significance for his wealth

His heart got lost in his wallet

where it will shrivel

cramped among the large bills

until one day he finds

that Life has left

without him on board.

I enjoy how you go after CEO's and large corporations, but it would be nice to see you go after all the corrupt politicians also. The whole system is corrupt and while the CEOs are able to buy politicians the politicians take the money. I see you went after turbo tax and I have been using turbo tax since it came out. its the best program available for doing your taxes and is very inexpensive. I prefer to use turbo tax than to have the government provide a free program that will cost the taxpayer billions for the software and they will make a mess of it. Anything our government gets involved in they mess up.

I’ll do it. I remember you and Jamie Dimon. You asked what he’d tell that entry level bank employee to help her make ends meet and he said he’d “sit down with her and set up a budget” or maybe he mentioned cutting her expenses. It was so meaningless I can’t remember it.

Substantial and thoughtful questioning does not qualify as being hard on another person. Direct questions should not be hard to field if the recipient is equally thoughtful in his life and work.
