I already mailed in my vote for you several days ago, Katie, but it occurs to me to wonder: I first arrived in California and registered to vote here in 1968, at the age of 27. How closely will my crisp young signature from 55 years ago resemble the elderly, slightly wobbly [but still progressive!], way I sign my name now? Could anyone comparing them try to invalidate my ballot? I haven't yet received any acknowledgement from BallotTrax. Could DeJoy's demoralizing efforts to slow down the USPS be at work here? In my humble opinion, you are by far the best candidate to take over Diane Feinstein's seat.
P.S. Does everyone know that Trumpist Steve Garvey is 75 years old? And "middle-aged" Adam Schiff is 63 already, while Katie just turned 50 last month.
Got notified that my ballot was received and counted, hooray! Friendly reminder that if you are going to mail to please do so now, so that if any corrections are needed, you have time to do that before deadline. A few years back I was notified of a signature mismatch and was able to get resolved in time. Vote 💙 but watch out for who...my Primary ballot had the name President R. Boddie directly above Joseph R. Biden and I called SoS to express concern and was told ballot placement was random, please be careful when completing.
You don't have to be in California to vote for a democrat. We will accept votes from Honduras, El Salvador, China, etcetera. Proof of citizenship is irrelevant.
I sent the email below to my extended family in California. I hope when you get to the Senate you will give some attention to Instant Runoff Voting. This crazy primary shows why we need it so badly! Thanks. Jerry
Dear California Family,
The California primary for US senate shows what’s wrong with our electoral process. I wrote about this a few months ago in my piece on Instant Runoff Voting (https://3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/2023/10/less-than-zero.html). I didn’t know such a good example would appear so soon!
Our defective system can deprive voters of a real contest between the top two candidates. It can also invite candidates to game the system trying to deprive voters of that choice. In this case, Adam Schiff and Katie Porter are the serious contenders, but our faulty process makes spoilers possible. Steve Garvey is far from serious on his own, but this defect has enticed Schiff into propping Garvey up to try to make him a spoiler. Here is a good article on what is going on:
In addition to spoiling the senate race, Schiff’s game will help Republicans down ballot. Now, the rules are the rules, and even though they are bad rules I can’t exactly say candidates shouldn’t play by them. But voters aren’t helpless either, and you can make this process more democratic.
I would ask all of you who can vote in California to try to make sure the general election is a legitimate contest between Schiff and Porter. You can do that by voting for Katie Porter in the primary, regardless of whom you plan to vote for in November.
In a properly designed system, no voter would ever have to vote strategically. But we don’t have a proper electoral system, and sometimes we don’t vote our real preferences. I’m asking you to vote strategically in the primary for an honest and democratic general election.
Yikes! I was immersed in discussions of racial issues when notification popped up about this post, Katie. So from the title, I thought it would be a discussion of your ethnic race.

I’ll notify my daughter, who seldom votes. 😡

I already voted for you and returned my ballot. Hang in there Katie - we need you (and your white board) in Congress! 💙
I've already dropped off my ballot with my vote for Katie Porter. I'm very disappointed in Schiff's tactics which I consider dirty pool.
Extra donation sent today. This AZ voter thinks you are a great advocate for both Californians AND all Americans.
Go Katie! Were I still in CA you would have my vote.

Seeing Katie in the Senate would have been a good thing. However democrats really need all the seats possible in the house.

Wish I could vote for you but sending good luck and a little green from New Mexico. America needs you and your white board too!

But no matter what you care to discuss, I always find what you say to be greatly interesting!
